In 1947, Bruce R Smith Limited began hauling dairy products with a single truck in Walsh, a small agricultural community in southwestern Ontario. Since then the company has grown to become the 20th largest truckload carrier in Canada. John H. Smith, the founder's son took over management of the company in the mid-1970's. Today Bruce R Smith Limited operates over 450 power units and 1500 trailers specializing in the transportation of food, packaging and steel in Ontario, Quebec and the United States.
